Located just 45 miles south of Nashville, TN, historic downtown Columbia is easily reached by taking US Hwy 412 (off I-65 south of Nashville) to US Hwy. 31 and following it south. Lying in the heart of Maury County, downtown Columbia is designated as the county seat and includes many government and professional offices, as well as a delightful array of unique retail and dining establishments, and several museum sites, including the ancestral home of the eleventh president of the United States, James K. Polk. The Polk home is located just two blocks from the center of town.

Historic downtown Columbia serves as a venue to several exciting events…in April the Annual Mule Day Parade attracts over two hundred thousand spectators from throughout the United States and abroad, and is devoted entirely to the four-legged mule the played a role in the settlement of the community. The Farmers’ Fresh Market is held on the square June – October and entices customers with locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh baked goods, and hand-crafted wares. The Southern Fried Festival® takes place in the fall and attracts thousands of people enjoying scrumptious foods and top notch entertainment. The Annual Main Street Christmas Parade ushers in the holiday season with marching bands, lighted floats, and other merry participants.
